This unit is constructed with an insulated hot junction (grounded junction also available) with a tip of 3/16” (other sizes are available).
Insertion depth is adjusted by screwing the single slot bayonet cap up and down the 200mm spring.  The cable is rated to 350C due to it’s glass fibre insulated construction with a protective stainless steel overbraid.

This unit is available in K, J and T thermocouple types but can also be made using other sensor types if required.

bayonet thermocouple type kType K - NiCr and Ni – Chromel and Alumel. Often referred to as the general purpose thermocouple, this is the most commonly used thermocouple type.

The element works between -200C and +1100C (although not generally used below 0C) but will be limited by the kind of insulation employed.  The type K in Class 1 calibration has an accuracy of +/-1.5C but as with all accuracy ratings it should be remembered that this is the absolute accuracy, housings and other parts of the system will have a negative impact.

Type J - Fe and Con – Iron and Constantan
Not suitable above 750C, accuracy is also +/-1.5C in class 1 calibration.

Type T - Cu and Con – Copper and Constantan
Popular in catering/refrigeration applications due to the lower range of measurement suitability, -200C to +350C with a 0.5C accuracy in Class 1.  As the wires are non-magnetic the type T is also popular in areas with strong magnetic fields such as electrical generators or motors.
